Since my early twenties, I have experienced various stomach and digestive issues. For a long time, I blamed food. Food was my enemy, and our relationship deteriorated once I started placing that blame on food instead of where it belonged, on me.

I recently listed all my diagnoses over the years, and I was astounded by the sheer number of things that went wrong with me. It started off pretty minor and then ramped up as the years passed, all because I didn’t address the trauma I had experienced.

My hypnotherapist always says, “if you don’t listen to the whispers, you will have to hear the screams.” That is exactly how it was for me. My body was trying so hard to tell me I had work to do, but I wouldn’t listen until I was so sick; I had no choice.

Thankfully, all my suffering led me to try anything. Western medicine failed me years ago. They were full of fancy names for the illnesses I had, but they never offered any cure. I got sick of the tests and biopsies and being probed only to hear “results inconclusive.” So, I gave up and finally focused my energy and attention on some real healing solutions.

Some of the things I have healed through these methods are:

  • Severe anxiety.
  • Arthritis.
  • Hashimoto’s disease.
  • Celiac disease.
  • GERD (acid reflux).
  • Ulcers.
  • Diverticulitis.
  • IBS.
  • Vertigo.
  • Knee problems.
  • Chronic pain from ribs/broken back from falling on ice years ago.
  • Allergies.
  • Lactose intolerance.
  • Esophageal spasm.
  • Sleep apnea.

Along with all these physical issues, the methods I used also helped my head. I am so much more aware of everything (most every thought, every feeling, every action). I have more peace and relaxation, and I can let things go easier. Which has not always been easy for me. I can be like a dog with a bone.

So, let’s get started exploring all the things I used to heal my body completely and how I keep it on track going forward.

Meditation

I started meditating years ago, but I had so much fear when I “followed by breath.” I don’t know why. I am sure it ties in with all my other issues. But I kept at it. I finally settled on a routine of starting my day with a Calm meditation first thing in the morning. I also do a Tapping Solution meditation every day (I Am Enough) to bolster my self-confidence. Later in the day, I typically do my David Ji healing meditation, which soothes me for the rest of my day.

I frequently take part in the Deepak Chopra 21-day meditations when they are offered. I have also begun to use Joe Dispenza’s “Blessing of the Energy Centers” meditation which raises my vibration (mood) incredibly well and helps keep my body in a healing state by aligning my chakras.

Meditation is my daily staple. If I do nothing else during the day to help myself, I do this.

EFT/Tapping

Years ago, after my life-saving surgery, I was guided to an EFT coach. She was amazing and wonderful and helped to really put me on the path to profound healing. My EFT coach helped me unravel a lot of the past and trauma I had suffered early in life. She gently redirected my focus off others onto me. I failed to understand at the time that I was the architect of this suffering. When I stepped back, I saw my life, actions, feelings, and motivations more clearly. My two years of EFT with her changed my life.

We cleared out so much of the old “stuff” that I was carrying around. The year after I finished working with her was one of the happiest of my life, even though my boyfriend and I had broken up, and it took me two years to heal from my surgery. I was at peace.

But then, as life does, things happened, and more stress piled on, and it brought other issues to the surface that I had yet to deal with, so my body started once again to become ill and give me signs that I wasn’t done healing yet.

I use EFT almost daily for many things. It can be used for symptoms or to clear out emotions or uncomfortable situations. For example, you fight with your spouse/partner and can’t let it go. A few rounds of tapping will clear out the emotional charge so you can calm down and look at it clearly. Dissolving that emotion is so beneficial for your mind and body. Trust me the other person is not walking around bothered by it, only you are.

Hypnotherapy

My cousin and his wife are very spiritual people. A few years ago, she decided to study to become a certified hypnotherapist. Her work is miraculous.

This past year she and I have done some fantastic work together. She has helped me face some of the most troubling traumas from my past and move forward. I have let go of so much pain and suffering. I feel like a different person.

Releasing those things set me free as I have never been before. When I was a child, I created a wall between me and the world. That wall helped me not to feel my emotions. What I didn’t realize is that I was storing them for later. We did a hypnotherapist session where we removed the wall and repurposed it to stay by my side, keeping me safe but not blocking anything.

Nothing in my life could have prepared me for the change that took place after that one session. I became a raw nerve of emotion feeling everything so strong until it settled down. Now, I cry over sad movies, but I also feel much more love, joy, happiness, and contentment more easily too. She gave the greatest gift of all; I can now feel my feelings and let them go, instead of storing them for later so they can show up as illness or injury. You can never really avoid your feelings anyway. So, I just let them pass through me, and my body is happier for it. Feeling a lot is sometimes more challenging but so much healthier.

Body Talk

Something simple I have learned is that every cell in my body has a consciousness. Therefore, when I have something going on, I simply talk to my body (I call it body talk). I speak as though talking to a child who I love and want to help. It helps to encourage the body part to heal as I ask it what I can do to help and then listen. Often, I am guided by inspiration to eat or drink something healthy or take another action to ease the issue.

Body talk has worked miracles for me. It sounds silly, it may sound too simple to do anything, but I will tell you, for me, it works! Not just some of the time, but all the time. Just ask for what you want, see what happens. It’s incredibly powerful.

Ongoing Healing

As part of my ongoing healing process to keep feeling my best, I continue to meditate daily, use EFT when I need it, and read many spiritual texts to learn from the masters. I also practice grounding regularly. I love Amy Scher’s book “How to Heal Yourself When No One Else Can.” I use her sweep method for changing beliefs. It works great!

I have learned that to stay well; you have to have a daily mindful practice. Life can be stressful, so you must remain alert and mindful, so you don’t slip back into bad habits of negative thinking and storing emotions that caused the problems in the first place.

My most powerful tool in my mindful practice is awareness. I try to stay alert and notice when I am feeling something and why. Often just acknowledging it will avoid any physical entanglement. My body and mind are closely linked, so I have to be careful about ignoring symptoms or not taking quick action if I notice I am headed in the wrong direction.

I try to engage in a lot of FUN and RELAXING activities. For example, I recently bought a swing/chair for my patio, and spending time in it gently swaying does wonders for me. I also listen to a lot of music. Music always improves my mood.

Life is not always easy. However, your body can become addicted to the chemicals produced when you feel stress, anxiety, anger, fear, etc., so you have to replace those emotions with better ones. The best way to do that is to find things you like to do that make you feel happy, joyful, love, calm, comfortable, and peaceful. Your body can become just as addicted to the good stuff as to the bad. It’s all up to you.

Listen to your body, pay attention to the small signs before they become louder and ask what your body needs from you. Is there something you should be addressing or facing?

The New “Healed” Me

Over the past few years, I had become so sick, and I blamed various foods for my illnesses. I had limited my diet down to a small number of “safe” foods. After all my hard work using the methods above, I now eat whatever I want. I eat dairy, cheese, pizza, ice cream, eggs, yogurt, potato chips, and gluten. All my food issues are gone along with my symptoms. I typically eat very healthily, but it’s nice to know that when I want a treat, I can have one without feeling any adverse effect. I have had chronic heartburn since I was 20, now I have none, regardless of what I eat. That is pure freedom!

When I overdo it and use muscles that I haven’t used in a while, I simply make an anti-inflammatory smoothie and tell my body that “this will take care of it,” and it does. I don’t wake up the next day with any soreness. I work with my body as a team to make sure we are both happy and healthy. That is the key, the magic that keeps me healthy.

You Can Heal Too!

If you have lost hope (as I had) that anything could ever cure you, hear this: YOU CAN HEAL YOURSELF! Many people have said it before, and it is true. You must get to the bottom of what trauma or emotion you are storing in your body and release it. Once you do that, you will heal naturally, and you will be shocked at how good you can feel again. Don’t let anyone (even doctors) tell you that you cannot heal, you can! I am a living example.
